Closing the Technology Gap for Kids in our Schools
Re-Purpose is an Alpharetta, GA based division of Refurb Technologies, LLC. committed to obtaining, refreshing, and distributing technology to students who need the tools to succeed in school. We believe all public school students should have access to the technology and hardware they need to learn regardless of their family's income level. Re-Purpose's mission is to eliminate technology impediments as a part of the achievement and further give us a new purpose!

Do you need a laptop for your young adult in Our Public Schools?
Do you know a local student who needs a laptop for schoolwork or needs access to WiFi to complete schoolwork at home?
Why You Should Donate Technology to Re-Purpose
By sharing your gently used technology with a deserving student, YOU are making a difference in their lives and helping them to succeed in school.
Technology recipients are not charged. We re-image laptops you donate and then we give them to a worthy client family for FREE.
By donating a laptop to Re-Purpose you can get that old laptop out of the closet and put it to good work. It also keeps it out of a land fill. It's the ultimate "green" solution.
Volunteers of all Types and Skill Sets are Welcome
- High School student volunteers can obtain community service hours by volunteering for Re-Purpose. We will complete any documentation they require.
- Lab sessions are always run by adult volunteers, but we are not a sitting service. Students who volunteer should be responsible and willing to work independently. We are happy to discuss our policy with parents.
- Parents are also welcome and encouraged to join us in the lab.

Why Re-Purpose?
How does my family qualify for Re-Purpose's offerings?
Re-Purpose is currently focused on offering technology to families with students in the Georgia Public Schools. There are multiple opportunities to qualify for our free wifi or laptops. In addition to those families who are documented as being a part of the GPS free or reduced lunch program, we will happily receive recommendations from teachers, guidance counselors, tutors, or other responsible adults to get technology in the hands of those who need it.
Is it really Free?
Yes, if you qualify for the technology offerings from Re-Purpose there is no charge to you as a client. We provide this program with the generous support of our partners and volunteers.
Do you track device usage or use my email address for any promotional purposes?
No. Note that if there an issue with a wifi device from Re-Purpose we may need to access its history to resolve the problem. Re-Purpose will never sell your personal information or promote any service or product to you.
Can I customize my laptop from Re-Purpose?
Yes, it is yours to do what you please with. We only ask that you take care of it so that it provides you years of trouble free service. You may install what ever software you see fit to meet your studying needs.
I am a corporate donor and I'd like to understand your data deletion policy. Can you explain?
Sure, Re-Purpose will wipe the contents of the hard drive(s) of any donated device prior to the installation of a Windows 10/11 image (non-chromebooks). We will use industry standard software to completely wipe your data and issue you a certificate of data destruction with every donation. Our current standard for data destruction is Enterprise Data Solutions (EDS), Once enabled, EDS wipes data to the specification (NIST 800-88 4 and 800-14). EDS is compliant with the following laws: the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. You are of course welcome to perform any other erase/wife procedures to your hardware prior to donating to us. Even if you do, we will still wipe it again. Finally, Re-Purpose can not extract or provide any of your data to you from a machine you have donated. Makes sense, right? We wipe them.
Will I ever hear what happened to my donation?
Yes, we ask that families who receive a donated laptop acknowledge donors. We will pass on the communication to you so you can see the result of your good works. Thank you.
